From Bro Cary Gomer, DOM. . .(Sept 18, 2026)
Good Friday, brother!
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
1) The SVBA Annual Meeting is one month away. This year's meeting will be held October 20th at First Baptist Dunlap beginning at 5:00PM. Even as we attend to necessary business, we are anticipating a wonderful time of worship as we hear reports from the various ministries that are associated with the SVBA and celebrate the goodness of our God! We are blessed to have Bro Steventhen Holland bring the message for the evening. As many of you know, he has had a very difficult year, suffering a stroke not long after he was with us for our first Executive Board Meeting in February. While the Lord has granted him major recovery, he still is not 100%. He and his family are trying to deal with the medical bills that have come from his ongoing treatment. I am asking you and your church to consider collecting a gift to present to him and his family on the night of our meeting. Please prayerfully consider!
2) Whitwell First Baptist is holding a Fall Revival on September 27th at 11AM & 5PM. Coach Mark Mariakis will be preaching both services and Steven Johnson from Cleveland FBC will lead worship for the PM service. Students are invited to come at 4PM for pizza! See the flyer attached below.
3) Risk Management Training - Last year, Bro Mark Proctor pretty much blew our minds with his presentation. Many of us had no idea the things we needed to do to promote church safety. This year, Bro Mark is coming back to instruct us further. I would highly encourage you and representatives from your church to attend. This year's event will be at Kimball Baptist on October 6th from 5:30-7:30PM. There will be light refreshments at about the halfway point. Please announce and make plans to attend.
4) SVBA Picnic - October 10th from 12-3PM (or till whenever we decide to head out) will be our first Associational picnic. The Association will provide the hamburgers, hotdogs, and buns. If you would announce that we are asking the churches to bring sides, hamburger & hotdog toppings, desserts, drinks, etc. There will be games to play and plenty of time to fellowship. I'm looking forward to getting together as an Association and getting to know each other more in a setting that does not revolve around any sort of Associational business, just fellowship and fun!
Know that you are prayed for, brother, as you shepherd your church, especially as you prepare to deliver the Word of God this Lord's Day!
2 Timothy 4:1-2 "I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of his appearing and his kingdom: Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching."
